Rockstar posted the GTA 6 launch trailer on 15 October 2026, about five weeks before release. It runs roughly 90 seconds and is the third main trailer after the December 2023 reveal and the May 2025 follow-up. Confirmed

This breakdown sticks to what's on screen. Where fans have read more into a shot, we say so.

It opens in the Leonida Keys

The first shots are of the Leonida Keys, the island chain off the south of the map. Earlier trailers barely showed it, so this is the best look yet at the area. Seen in trailer

Jason "got in some trouble in the army"

Jason Duval gets a short introduction. In voiceover he says he got into trouble in the army. It's the clearest hint yet at his backstory. Seen in trailer

Rockstar's character notes already said Jason is ex-military and has been working for drug runners in the Keys. Confirmed The new line suggests his service didn't end cleanly. How it ended is still unknown.

Lucia calls from prison

Outlets that went through the trailer frame by frame report that it opens with Lucia calling Jason from prison. Later, a shower scene shows her wearing an ankle monitor. Seen in trailer

Many fans read the ankle monitor as a sign that Lucia is out on parole or on conditional release, and that breaking the terms could matter in the story. Fan theory Rockstar hasn't said how her release works.

Action shown

The trailer packs in several kinds of action, all shown on screen: Seen in trailer

  • Heists and armed robberies
  • Fist fights and firefights
  • Motorbike stunts and a police chase
  • A sequence in which Lucia leaps from a speeding car onto a moving plane
  • At least four separate shots of characters flying helicopters

The helicopter shots don't prove anything about missions, but they suggest flying will feature heavily. Fan theory

The couple

Several scenes focus on Jason and Lucia as a couple, including a tender bathroom scene and a shot of the two of them jumping hand in hand from a balcony. The "partners in crime" theme from Trailer 2 continues. Seen in trailer

Music

The trailer uses a new track from the game's soundtrack. Coverage credits it to the duo behind the score, but outlets don't agree on the exact song title, so we've left it out here. Rumour

What it doesn't show

  • No online or multiplayer footage. Rockstar describes GTA 6 as a "single-player experience", and no online mode has been announced for launch. Confirmed
  • No PC footage. The game launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only. Confirmed
